Design — Erkkitapio Siiroinen (1944-1996)
Produced between 1970-75 for Riihimaki Glass, Finland, this petite vase by Siironen is often called a Dice Bottle after the pattern on it's sides. We like it with a single parrot-tulip stem or empty and on display!
h17cm, base 10x10cm
A designers in glass to the core, Erkkitapio Siironen's relatively short career produced boundary-breaking work which used every glass-blowing technique, from mould-blowing, pressing, centrifugal-casting and also adding the most interesting of decorative details to the surface, using sand-blasting and polishing to great effect. Starting his career at Riihimaki Glass in 1963, by 1976 the factory's blowing facility had closed and at 32 years old, his career was effectively over.
